I had to run earlier due to other commitments. I ran rabbit trails and then did the Hansen fartlek route. I did the first half of the run with my roomate and the second half on my own. We probably ran 7:20 pace for the first 5 miles and I probably ran 6:30 pace for the last 5 miles. I felt pretty good today. A little sore from all the lifting but not bad. I got 25 miles in so far this week.
i must admit that all these miles may look unhealthy, too aggressive, or plain immature.
but there's a second part to this training style that is so special and rare.
when you're doing this much volume, and then complementing it with so much lifting, cross-training and grueling workouts, you look forward to it. it's not how many more intervals do we have, but how many more can we do? how many more calories can i eat today? how much more sleep can i get?
so ill be conservative on the 4th week to allow for some recovery, but overall this training is as good for the mind's confidence as it is physically.
beyond that, my overall goal is boom or bust. all or nothing. id rather not run this spring than run another 1:54, so im going to do as much as i can in the shortened period that i have left to ensure proper shape.
