i got out hard for the first 50m out in lane 7, then as i saw no one around me i apparently started coasting and coming around the 2nd turn, the entire field passed me.
i ran on the back of the pack in lane 2 or 3 trying to get ahead of them until the 3rd lap when i gave up and ran on the back of the pack in lane 1. in the final 2 laps i felt like i was running through water. when i finished i felt like i could have gone no faster.
it's really embarrassing when you run like that. no one wants to say anything to you, and no one even wants to look you in the eye. it's even worse when you have to be there with the team for the next day being the only one not competing.
i got off the line hard and was nearly run off the track by keen. rolled pretty hard for 600m (25.9, 54.9, 1:24.6). At 600m keen got in front of me and immediately stepped on the breaks. halfstepped him on the backstretch and took him on the turn. at this point my focus was on top 2 in the heat. eased in towards the end and stangel passed me right at the line.
i was under the assumption that i was running the 400 in the dmr. i the trial with this in mind. after the trial, i overheard that i was taken out of the dmr (no one even told me). pretty upset that no one bothered to tell me because that would have affected how i ran the last lap of the 800.
went ok overal i guess, made it to finals alright. i just wasnt happy with how i felt doin it. i was tired and even though i didnt really need to kick it home hard, i didnt feel like i could have if i wanted to. led from 200 till the last 50 when i got edged out, it was nice to be clear from everyone and not have to worry about anythin happening to me. like i said though the last 200 i just didnt feel like i do when i have run well in the past. best i can describe it as is i felt flat.
