felt good about this race, i felt very strong. a few more weeks and the closing strength will be there and today's race will be a 155.
it was exciting to take this race by the horns and really get out.
its hard to sit at a meet for 10 hours. thank god for the CoB (college of business).
i got out really well in the first 70m. ended up in 1st after the cut. Lehman passed me around 200 and i followed him through the quarter in 55. i got to 600 still in good position in 1:25 something. i was going to start to surge at this point, but 2 kids passed me on my right so i had no place to go. with 100 to go it felt like my legs were going to give out. i closed in a disappointing 30.9.
i was happy with the first 600 and pretty upset with the last 200. im glad i got out though. i think if i continue to get out like that, i will feel better at 600 and be able to close harder.
i have mixed feelings about this race. i was happy that it was a big step from last week. also, this time was faster than i ran all of last year indoor. also, this is faster than i have been at this point of the season than in years past. However, i know we can run a lot faster. i wont be happy until we get under 1:55. i think things will go well as soon as our strength and endurance meshes with our speed training.
a very interseting race, it got out very fast and i was in good postion goin into the second turn, right behind mouse and a few other leaders, when i got stepped on and lost my right shoe at the 120m mark. thought about dropping out but decided to give it a go and just surged to get out in lane two about a stride behind otto till the about 650 when i moved up.
that trip/surge combined with the 26 to start the race left me very tired at about 350m, and i never was really in the race mentally. so i was not very happy with how it went, but thats about a worse of a situation i have been in for an entire race so the time wasnt too terrible, but wanted to be about a second faster.
my big toe and the toe next to it have some chunks of skin missing that give me a little pain when runnin but it wasnt to bad on the cool down or the run sun morning. looking forward to goin out in more like a 27 and keeping my shoe on next week.
