different than normal race for me, but i have realized that it is the same strategy used in all of my big PR races.

get out in first 50 (in slower races this means getting ahead of people), and sit and kick until there are only 200m to go!!!

dan haumschild 'the child' was nice enough to lead the entire race today and so i took advantage of his flawless pacing to lead me in for a V.

with 300 to go i generally get anxious about losing the kicking edge, so i feel as if i should use it while i have it, but it's so important to wait, for competitive purposes mostly, until you are within striking distance (200m this early in the season). in a few weeks i think ill be more capable of firing the rockets with 300 to go.

Things didnt go the greatest today. It was really sunny and hot and I am just getting used to it. Are warm up was messed up and we started putting are spikes on for the first time 30min before our race.

The race itself was pretty slow. We were just at a sluggish pace the whole race. My legs were tired after 400 and we only came through in 56-57. At 210 to go I made a big move and could only hold it until 50m to go. Then I kinda died. Still held on to second place. 1:55.96. Started next race, I am gonna make a huge effort to get out a lot harder.

4X400 sucked. I cut my toe in the 800 and it hurt alot during the 400. I just felt lazy and sluggish. It felt like a 52 but I guess I split 50.4.

5 miles total today putting me at 24.5 for the week so far.

My race was dissappointing on many levels. Mostly I disliked my ability to mentally focus for the two lapper. More than focus, however, I was lacking desire. After seeing that the competition would be from UWL I just became a little disheartened. I was, essentially forced into the lead when it was decided that a waterfall start would be used and I was a sitting duck in lane one. I tried to get out hard over the first 100 and then settle in - I settled too much. Lethargically I rolled around the track for a lap and a half before I gave up as my two teammates blew past me. After about 12 seconds of complete shut-down I decided that I was not going to throw the towel in and kicked back to my final position a half step behind Adam. Weird day, weird race, lots of lessons and thats what counts for now.
