went out good (:26) then slowed to come through in :57. tried to go at the 450 and had no energy or desire to do it. felt drained and pretty much strided the way in from 550.
not happy with how i gave up on the race. i probably should have just stayed home and did a workout.
i will forget about the race and refocus for the next few weeks that actually matter.
I messed up big time strategy wise in this race. Basically didn't get out fast enough to get good position. Was in close to last place after 200, the pace started okay but I needed to pass people and ended up running in lane 2 a lot. I think I came by the 600 in 1:30. Finished strong but had way too much left. It would have been a whole different race and much better time if I had just forced myself into the front with the leaders right away.
Indoor is basically done for me now. It was going well, my times improving. Disappointed with how it finished though.
a step in the right direction
got out hard to make sure i cut first after the two turn stager. went through in 26 mid. slowed down quite a bit the second lap. probably ran 30. this was probably a mistake but i guess i was just aftraid of dying. went through in 56. tried to step it up a notch after the 400. third lap was 29.5. Then i closed in 30.5.
not a great race but it was a nice improvement. felt a lot better in the second half of the race than in weeks past.
plenty of room for improvement next week.
