not all that happy with the results, but optimistic for the future. got out nice behind mouse and sammes in third in a :27, about right were i wanted. then i screwed up, slowed down got caught up in the masses at the 250 and slowed even more to fight out over the next 250. second lap was an abysmal :30, two seconds off where i wanted. however the second half of the third and the whole 4th lap i felt great and was able to finally get free area to move and finished with gas left in the tank. i believe i could have finished the same or better if i hadnt been stuck in the pack for so long.
learn from the mistakes, practice hard again next two weeks, and the results i want should be there at whitewater.
i was pretty happy with the way i raced, felt controled and strong. however i think i hung back a little bit too much in the beginning. the pack was really rough with people pushing for position so i stayed right behind it, but that caused me to be a little slow in the middle of the race. with two laps to go i felt real good and started my kick. i caught brok and just about caught eric hill. i feel like i should have run about 2 seconds faster.
not a big deal though, i feel like i'm more than ready more the 800 and will be able to finish strong and break 2.
hoped for a better time but i think there was a lot of positive that came out of the race.
i got out hard and made it to the cut first. came through in 25.9 and then 54hi. i felt very good at the 400. i felt good through 550 and then i slowed considerably. i came through 600 in 124hi. i dont know what happened the last 200. i gave up 2 seconds to boldt in the last 100m of the race which is unacceptable. i probably was a little to aggressive, but it just felt so good. i just didnt have anything left.
last week was our best week of practice so that should reflect in the upcoming races. i think in two weeks at whitewater i will be strong enough to hold it a lot better towards the end. i am not worried about the first 600 because i can get to where i want to be without to much trouble. i just need to focus a lot harder while finishing the race. i am optimistic for a big breakout race.
4X400 was blah. got the stick behind by four seconds. not sure of my split but i think some people said 51 something. i look forward to the dmr next week because i think i can clip off something pretty good.
sounds like you all ran pretty well - per your comments. tom great job on the 1k, you surpassed my expectations.
