Thursday - 6 miles
We began with a 3 mile warmup to the site of the Phil Esten Finnish workout grounds. The first Finnish was in about 49 seconds, and the second was in 46 seconds, probably a PR. Kudos to Tom who ran some fine hills today, in the very low 50s. Big improvement, and very promising indeed. We did a 2 mile cool-down to the track to do 5 grueling 150s (avg of 21-22 seconds)

Tuesday Workout
The boys of pain did a nice workout today. 3x500, 6x50, 2x200, 4x50, 1x500. The pace for the 500's was the most important thing today and the group consistently got faster on the whole. The initial 500 was finished in about 1:22 (65.5 through the 400), then we went 1:19 (64.0), 1:17 (61.2), 1:13 (57.5). TB rolled his around 1:28 for the first few, but then thought he was being cheated out of some suffering and so he decided to pick up the pace. Considering the sore legs, of which everyone was complaining before the workout began, the first day on the outdoor track went pretty well.

First Day of Outdoor
After a highly successful indoor season track and field moves into the big arena. MD guys Boldt, Otto, Hummer, Mouse, and TB sauntered over to 29th street hill for a little strength work. They were greeted by 70 members of the women's team who were all doing a similar workout... Props to Pat Healy on fantastic coaching.

Spring Break Monday
I found myself running in Waukesha today. It was nice to be home and change the scenery a little bit. I ran for about 29 minutes on what I figure to be a little over 4 miles. Last week I ended up hitting 39 miles for the week, which I was surprised about, but pleased with. I bought new shoes while I was in Minneapolis because the Mizuno's were making my shins very tender and hurting my calves a bit. I went 8 on Sunday for the first run in my new kicks and felt like I had new legs. I hope everyone is enjoying their time away from La Crosse.

nationals week
Big week for the UWL track team. Andrew is heading to Nationals in the DMR, it should be a good time. Most of the men are taking the week exceptionally easy. Hopefully spring break will be a rejuvination of old spirits and leg speed. We'll resume daily posts from our locations next week Monday.
