summary - felt really good, increased confidence, racing seems a lot easier now.
story - i was in the first alley, but i ended up in last place as usual at the cut.
250m into the race i made my move, an ass-kicking move, and positioned myself behind mouse who was around 3rd place.
i continued this pace at ease until 100m remained where boldt and another came from behind and passed me. i was unable to handle his heat. i threw out my form and "swam" for awhile to keep up with him but exhaustion got the better of me.
alas, a great start to the season as agreed by all.
overall i am very pleased with the way things went today.
got out fine in the 800, i cut in in 2nd right behind the rabbit. i 150 i felt uncomfortable with the pace and the rabbit gapped me by 10m. everyone started clipping my heels at that point (i guess they werent happy). i believe i went through the 200 in 27 and the 400 in 55mid.
at the 400 the rabbit dropped off. at the 500 mark a few people started to pass me. with 200 to go i tried to throw down. i passed back the platteville kid and once we hit the final 100 i was a half step behind the stevens point kid. we battled the whole way to the finish but i just couldnt sneak ahead of him.
when i finished i figured i was probably about 155mid. i was surprised with the time but happy. i glad i was able to finish better than in indoor. just have to work on the 3rd 200.
the 4X4 was what i expected. felt a little tired but alright. i thought 50.4 was a solid effort for now.
8 miles for the day.
good start to the outdoor season for all of us.
the race went pretty good, stayed out wide in the middle of the pack for the whole race, till like 300 to go started to move up. i want the same thing just get out faster and make my move earlier, like optimally just before the 400 mark, but at least at 350 next time.
the bottom of my foot hurt on the cool down, on the inside of my arch, and this morning it hurts worse.
40 miles for the week
